Probably everyone who has ever been interested in smart watches or fitness bracelets has heard about Xiaomi Mi Band. And now I have the 7th generation of this folk bracelet in my hands – Xiaomi Smart Band 7.
The packaging is standard – a small black box with a new name, now it’s not Mi Band 7, but Xiaomi Smart Band 7. Why did Xiaomi decide to rebrand the name, which everyone already remembered well, I still don’t understand. Maybe you have thoughts on this? I would love to see them in the comments below.
In my case, this is a global version, so its characteristics are also indicated on the back of the box in all popular languages. But let’s open the box and see a rather boring package, which consists of:
- The Xiaomi Smart Band 7 bracelet itself
- USB Magnetic charging cable
- And thick instructions in all languages (Like a small version of the War and Peace)
Actually, there is nothing new here, even the cable is exactly the same as the previous Mi Band 6 model.
The bracelet looks great, although the strap itself does not differ at all from other versions, which is good, because it is thanks to it and the low weight of the entire device that people like it. By the way, Mi Band 7 can be safely put into the strap from Mi Band 6 and it stays there very confidently, but not vice versa.
Same design, bigger screen
The first thing that catches your eye is the enlarged AMOLED display. Now the display diagonal has become 1.62 inch against 1.56 inch for its predecessor. In addition, the brightness has grown a little – up to 500 nits.
In reality, the screen has slightly increased in width, but it is noticeable. The resolution has also increased and is now 192×490 pixels (326 PPI).
Newer and stuffing
They also updated the filling, installed a new Dialog chip, which is responsible for the operation of the interface and multitasking. Xiaomi updated the Bluetooth 5.2 version for better communication and power saving, by the way, the battery has also been increased to 180 mAh.
Now you will need to charge no more than once a week.
Functions and Sensors
Despite its simplicity, there are even more functions in the new Xiaomi Smart Band 7.
Added many new watch faces, including a copy of the super wallpaper from MIUI 13 – Mars.
And the interface itself has been updated and has become more like MIUI from Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones.
And thanks to the larger display size, it’s now easier to tap and swipe on the screen.
As well as Always On Display, and it looks pretty cool.
We added a bunch of new sports modes for every taste, now there are already 120 of them, including yoga, Pilates and even skateboarding (I wonder if scooters are also an activity?).
More importantly, it now has the ability to continuously monitor blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) at a predetermined interval, something that was so lacking before.
In addition, now the bracelet can analyze the data received and give advice on training and health so as not to overload the body. Of course, all this information can be viewed in the new Zepp Life app, which is a follower of Mi Fit.
It is also convenient to manage the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 settings through it, since all this can also be done from the bracelet, but much less comfortably.
Bottom line and price
At the moment, it is most profitable to purchase Xiaomi Smart Band 7 on Aliexpress. For example, the Chinese version will cost only $38, and the global version will be a couple of bucks more expensive – $39. So the purchase is more than justified.
Despite minor changes compared to the Mi Band 6, the new product was able to show the really needed features and updates. And the price did not rise too much, so the upgrade came out well.
I hope in the next generation Xiaomi will add more colors to the display and increase its refresh rate, but then the competitors will have nothing to offer in return.
